Who are we?
BUDA Arts Centre (Kortrijk) is Flanders’ largest workshop for performing artists from Belgium and abroad; it runs two performing arts festivals and an arthouse cinema, promotes cross-sectoral projects and is increasingly working in partnership with other organisations. Each year, around 300 artists work on new creations or artistic research during 80 residencies in the BUDA studios, and around 80,000 audience members visit us for film, theatre, dance, talks, guided tours, festivals…

Who are you?
You are an enthusiastic and empathetic person with a passion for contemporary performing arts. You enjoy engaging in dialogue with artists and love helping to make their dreams a reality. You have an affinity with the creation of dance, theatre and performance, and with the work developed in the BUDA studios. You set clear expectations, are able to think and act flexibly, and take a solution-oriented approach. You endorse BUDA’s mission and Fair Practice Charter, whilst placing the artist at the centre of everything we do.

What does that mean in practical terms – ‘programmer for the residencies’ at BUDA?

  • You will work closely with the artists and be open to their questions and concerns. You will guide and support them in their artistic research and creative process.
  • At the artist’s request, you will organise informal previews and follow these up with discussions with the artists and BUDA’s committed audience members (compañeros).
What are we looking for in a new colleague?

  • You have an interest in and a clear understanding of both the Flemish and international contemporary performing arts scenes.
  • You are able to assess projects and practices on the basis of discussions, research and/or documentation.
  • You have experience in planning and production and collaborate smoothly and openly with other team members.
  • You will help shape the image of the BUDA arts centre, which requires a regular presence in Kortrijk, often in the evenings or at weekends.
  • You are passionate, critical, flexible, sociable, positive and multilingual.

  • A permanent contract for a part-time or full-time role (1/2, 3/5, 4/5 are negotiable);

  • A quick onboarding;
  • Meal vouchers, end-of-year bonus, 100% reimbursement of commuting costs by public transport or a cycling allowance, a mobile phone subscription through fleet, extra holiday, plenty of work opportunities;
