www.merhaba.be The project
Merhaba leads a collective of five core organizations (Merhaba, Nansen, Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen, Hub Humanitaire, Rainbow Refugee Committee) that provide support to people on the run, focusing on the intersection of gender and sexual diversity.
The
We Are With You (WAWY) project aims to coordinate care and share the expertise and knowledge of each organization at the intersection of asylum, sexual orientation, and gender diversity. The project seeks to systematically respond to the needs and signals from this target group. Together, we share knowledge about their complex realities to better support them within social services and during their asylum procedures.
Your Role & Responsibilities You are responsible for the implementation and execution of the project's objectives throughout its duration (project runs until August 2026).
- Together with your colleague at partner organization NANSEN, you bring various stakeholders to the table. You organize meetings between the collective’s partners and actively work on their inquiries.
- Within Merhaba, you are responsible for the psychosocial support of this specific target group. You welcome individuals who contact Merhaba and provide a listening ear. You offer tailored support on social, procedural, and/or administrative matters. Where necessary, you refer them to the appropriate individuals, services, or (partner) organizations. For complex legal cases, you work closely with NANSEN.
- You identify the needs of the core members within the collective.
- You identify gaps and shortcomings in care services for the target group. You streamline the support and referral processes between different partners and develop procedures and working methods for collaboration within the collective.
- You gain insight into the operations, vision, and expertise of each project partner. You develop methodologies to share this expertise and organize internal trainings.
- In the final year of the project, you focus on ensuring the project’s sustainability and develop tools and products to make the expertise and methodologies accessible. You explore the potential for expanding the project.
- You are responsible for the project’s reporting.
